Embark on an immersive wildlife safari starting with a scenic 15-mile boat ride from Placencia. You will travel through mangrove estuaries that are home to manatees, shorebirds, and uninhabited cayes before reaching the mouth of the Monkey River. As you cruise upstream, you'll encounter a thriving ecosystem teeming with crocodiles, iguanas, tropical birds, and exotic flora.

Because premier luxury resorts are tucked away in quiet coastal pockets outside of San Pedro Town, renting a cart gives you total freedom to explore local restaurants, hidden beach bars, and secret north-island beaches at your own pace.
It is a fun, breezy, and entirely immersive way to travel that instantly sinks you into the laid-back island vibe. Just keep in mind that local authorities enforce standard driving laws, so a valid physical driver’s license is strictly required to rent and operate one.

🇺🇸 Snorkeling is often combined with diving for groups with non-divers. The snorkeling is done from the white sandy beaches of the cayes we visit. This way you will not be on the boat entire trip. This also makes it a great spot for beginners and children.
There is excellent snorkeling just a few feet from the beaches. The reefs around these islands are teeming with sea life. You can expect to see multicolored reef fish and corals, as well as the occasional turtle or ray as your snorkeling guide will point out interesting creatures and marine life.
Choose your location among the below options:
Silk Caye: Located about 22 miles from Placencia (about 1 hr boat ride), it is made up of three small islands located inside the Gladden Split & Silk Cayes Marine Reserve.
This location is quickly becoming famous for a snorkeling spot call Turtle Ray Ally. Here you can get close encounters with Sea Turtles, Sting Rays, and Nurse Shark. This is normally done as a bonus snorkel for both diver and snorekelers at the end of the day.
After refueling with a Belizean-Style lunch on the beach, we do a second guided snorkel session before heading back home.
Laughing Bird: Located inside the Barrier Reef, about 10 miles from Placencia (30 Min Boat Ride), this long narrow aisle stands on a reef known as a Faro.
A Faro is an angular atoll on a continental shelf, also known as a shelf atoll. this makes it ideal for beginners and novices because the water is calm and clear. While the vast numbers of fish you will see outside the reef are missing, it more than makes up for it with a variety of juvenile fishes and hard and soft corals.
Laughing Bird: Located on the fringe of the Laughing Bird Caye National Park, about 12 miles from Placencia (about a 35 to 40-minute boat ride), this idyllic 12-acre, palm-fringed private island is surrounded by crystal-blue waters and incredible coral reefs.
This location is an exceptional spot for day trips, offering immediate access to a shallow fringing reef that is teeming with colorful marine life. Because it is a private island, it features excellent amenities for a relaxing day trip, including picnic tables, hammocks, and shady palms. For the more adventurous traveler, it is even equipped for overnight camping under the stars.
After a scenic morning snorkel along the island's edge and a classic Belizean-style lunch under the palms, you can spend the afternoon swimming in some of the most beautiful waters Belize has to offer before the boat heads back to the mainland.

Currency & Cash Flow
The official currency is the Belize Dollar (BZD), and it is permanently locked at a strict $2 BZD = $1 USD).
US cash is accepted everywhere. There is absolutely no need to exchange money before you arrive. Just bring crisp, untorn US bills, better yet in small denominations. You will often receive change back in a mix of USD and BZD.
Passports & Entry Logistics
Belize only requires your passport to be valid for 30 days beyond your arrival, but airlines occasionally enforce stricter rules. We recommend having at least 3 to 6 months of validity left to avoid any boarding friction!
Citizens of the US, Canada, UK, and the EU do not require a tourist visa for stays under 30 days. Just ensure you have your onward/return flight confirmation handy for immigration.

Local Customs & Island Life
On popular cayes like Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, golf carts and water taxis are the main modes of transport. If you plan to grab the wheel of a golf cart, make sure to pack a valid driver’s license!
Belize takes marine conservation incredibly seriously. Single-use plastics and Styrofoam are completely banned nationwide. Bringing a reusable water bottle and shopping tote goes a long way.
Tipping follows standard North American customs—aim for 15% to 20% for excellent restaurant service and your private adventure guides.
The Smart Packing List
Standard chemical sunscreens harm the barrier reef. Please pack strictly reef-safe sunscreen (look for zinc oxide or titanium dioxide bases without oxybenzone) and a long-sleeve rash guard.
Jungle Protection: For mainland and rainforest excursions, high-quality bug spray and sturdy, closed-toe trail shoes or hiking sandals are non-negotiable.
Think lightweight, breathable fabrics. Toss in a light rain jacket and a simple dry bag to protect your phone and camera during boat tours.

Peak Season (December–April): This window offers the most reliably dry, sunny weather and clear, less seaweed to enjoy more beach time, ideal if pristine beach lounging is your top priority.
Green & Hurricane Season (June 1–November 30): While this brings a higher chance of tropical rain and occasional sargassum (floating seaweed) on east-facing beaches between March and October, it also brings major perks. You will enjoy 20% to 40% off peak pricing, far fewer crowds, and gorgeous, lush jungle scenery. Many weeks feature beautifully sunny days with only brief afternoon showers.
Choose winter or spring for classic postcard weather, or summer and fall if you prefer incredible value, quiet destinations, and a lush, uncrowded experience. (Note: Snorkeling and barrier reef diving remain crystal clear and unaffected year-round!)
